How to Choose the Right CBD Product

Welcome to Hello Blue CBD!

We started this company because we saw how helpful CBD was in our lives and the lives of our friends and family, and we wanted to share that experience with others. We were also shocked at how expensive it can be! That’s why we price our products lower than others. Every artisanal batch is handcrafted in California.

We know that selecting the right product can be overwhelming, but we are here to help. We’ve put together some resources on this page that will help you to decide. You can look over the product comparison chart for a side-by-side analysis of the different product types we offer. Our FAQ section answers the most common questions we get. If you take medications and are curious about any contraindications with CBD, we have information regarding drug interaction, including a link to a list of 57 medications that should be closely monitored when co-administered with cannabinoids.

Of course we are always happy to work with you directly! Click the blue chat button in the lower right corner of the page to talk with a person in California during regular business hours.

What is CBD?

CBD is short for cannabidiol, a dietary supplement that is derived from industrial hemp, a member of the Cannabis Sativa family. CBD is just one of many cannabinoids found in hemp, and arguably the most beneficial.  It comes in a few different forms, most commonly as a powder isolate or full-spectrum oil (more on the difference between those later).

What is CBD Not?

CBD is not marijuana. Don’t worry, you aren’t going to get high from CBD. Nope, not even a little bit. Hemp and Marijuana both derive from the Cannabis Sativa family, they do share certain similarities; however, due to each plant’s biological structure, they have several very distinct and crucial differences.

Unlike Marijuana, CBD is legal in all 50 states. It’s also not a banned substance…the World Anti-Doping Agency has removed CBD from its banned substance list. If you are involved in a sport that does drug testing, you should stick with our Regular CBD Oil and CBD Advantage Capsules, but not use our Full Spectrum line (which has less than 0.3% THC).

Which CBD Product is Best for You?

Hopefully we have made the names of our products lines pretty straightforward so that you can make a good decision. Do you have an inflammatory disease like osteoarthritis or even something unusual like Ankylosing Spondylitis? One of our cofounders has AS and helped develop the Pain Relief and Energy blends. Perhaps you suffer from anxiety and have a hard time sleeping. Our other co-founder does too, and helped develop the Anxiety Relief and Sleep lines for this very reason.

It’s important to understand that the FDA considers CBD to be a dietary supplement. Because they do, by law we have to tell you this: This product has not been evaluated by the Food and Drug Administration. This product is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease.

That said, we encourage you to do some independent research and decide for yourself what would be best for you. Each of our product pages had a tab that includes links to several medical studies about CBD for pain, anxiety and more.

What Makes Hello Blue CBD Different?

When it comes right down to it, you want to know why you should buy from us; why not buy from someplace else? We’re glad you asked.

First, we our CBD products simply cost less than those others. Why? One of the main reasons we started this company was because had been taking CBD ourselves, but felt like we were spending a lot of money on it every month. It seemed entirely too expensive, so we started looking into it. What did we find? Massive margins being charged by almost everyone. Some companies were (and still are) marking things up by 1000%+. That is…excessive. We wanted to make things affordable and within reach for everyone, and so we have by purchasing raw CBD isolate and distilate directly from farmers in Oregon, Colorado and Kentucky. Shop around and compare our prices to others. We think you’ll be back very quickly. Just be sure to compare total milligrams of CBD so you are doing an apples to apples comparison.

Second, since a lot of people have said that CBD oil tends to taste bad (many have a very strong cannabis flavor) we struck out to create a line of products that actual tastes good. If you don’t like the taste of CBD, add some natural flavor! You can find a list of all of the flavors we offer on our Tasting Notes page. Some of our products, like Hello Blue CBD Energy, have additives that are bitter or tart. We insist on all-natural ingredients, and that’s just how they come. If you add some flavor, like cappuccino, it takes the edge off the bitterness.

Finally, we believe in giving back. At checkout, you’ll see a list of charities that you can donate a portion of the sale to. It doesn’t cost you anything! We think small things like this make a big difference.

Are There Contraindications with CBD and Medications?

From the Harvard Health Blog:

“While generally considered safe, CBD may cause drowsiness, lightheadedness, nausea, diarrhea, dry mouth, and, in rare instances, damage to the liver. Taking CBD with other medications that have similar side effects may increase the risk of unwanted symptoms or toxicity. In other words, taking CBD at the same time with OTC or prescription medications and substances that cause sleepiness, such as opioids, benzodiazepines (such as Xanax or Ativan), antipsychotics, antidepressants, antihistamines (such as Benadryl), or alcohol may lead to increased sleepiness, fatigue, and possibly accidental falls and accidents when driving. Increased sedation and tiredness may also happen when using certain herbal supplements, such as kava, melatonin, and St. John’s wort. Taking CBD with stimulants (such as Adderall) may lead to decreased appetite, while taking it with the diabetes drug metformin or certain heartburn drugs (such as Prilosec) may increase the risk of diarrhea.”

Meds on this list should be closely monitored when co-administered with cannabinoids. As with any change in medication, diet or exercise, please consult with your physician prior to starting any new routines.
